Ever hold your tongue when talking to a superior, an intimidator, or a bully–and then later regret that you hadn’t spoken up? What if things could be different? In this Blab, I’ll interview fellow GiANT Worldwide Senior Associate, Amy Norton, on the topic, “How to Talk to a Big Shot”. Amy will share what she’s learned about the value of having a quieter voice, and how to use it in the presence of seemingly stronger people. Let’s help make 2016 your “speak up” year!
Amy’s worn many professional hats post college and graduate school–teacher, art gallery director, fund raiser, event planner, writer, managing editor–which has allowed her to experience a wide range of work environments. Whether it’s a large, corporate setting, a solo practice, or the frenetic, messy startup world, the common denominator of sustainable success in any organization is consistent, secure leadership. Expertise and resources are important, but it’s a leader’s capacity to leverage individual abilities for the greater good of the whole team that enables vision to become reality. Amy is a bridge builder and enjoys helping develop skills and processes that allow others to see not only the vision, but a well-defined, forward path.
